The Anti-Piracy Operations Analyst is responsible for protecting digital content across sports, film, TV, and video games by monitoring, investigating, and mitigating online piracy. The role involves tracking unauthorized distribution, analyzing piracy trends, conducting investigations, and executing takedown operations in compliance with copyright laws. The analyst will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, leverage investigative and data analysis tools, and adapt quickly to evolving technologies and piracy threats. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Monitor and Investigate Online Piracy Activities: Track, identify, and assess unauthorized distribution of content across piracy websites and platforms. 

  • Conduct Online Research and Investigations: Utilize investigative techniques and tools (e.g., Whois, DNS, IP lookups) to gather evidence on infringing websites and services. 

  • Analyze and Report Piracy Trends: Identify piracy trends, emerging threats, and major sources of infringement. Prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders. 

  • Perform Takedown Operations: Submit takedown notices in accordance with DMCA and other copyright laws, tracking and following up to ensure compliance. 

  • Collaborate with Internal and External Teams: Work with relevant teams and stakeholders to coordinate anti-piracy efforts. 

  • Data Management and Analysis: Use tools such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Tableau to manage and analyze large datasets related to piracy activity. 

  • Adapt to New Technologies: Rapidly learn and utilize new tools, platforms, and systems to stay ahead of piracy threats. 

  • Participate in Shift-Based Coverage: Provide coverage during scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends. 

 

Knowledge & Experience: 

 

  • Passionate about sports, film, TV, and video games, with an understanding of the online piracy landscape. 

  • Solid understanding of the digital media landscape and online piracy ecosystem. 

  • Strong PC and internet skills, including knowledge of internet architecture, protocols, and investigative techniques. 

  • Proficient in investigative tools and internet protocols (e.g., SMTP, HTTP, DNS, Whois). 

  • Prior experience in content protection, trust & safety, cyber investigations, or data analysis is preferred. 

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel, Tableau) and advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP). 

  • Experience with HTML, HTML5, and CSS. 

  • Understanding of DMCA and copyright laws.

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media, Communications, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Law, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
