The Role: Junior Software Engineer

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will work in a scrum team to design, implement, and validate our flagship content protection solution that is used widely by Irdeto external customers around the world. You will work on maintaining and improving a large-scale, mature Windows application powered by a SQL Server database. The role involves optimizing application performance, contributing to enhancements, and supporting the transition to AWS using Terraform scripts.

Your mission at Irdeto

• Collaborate with product managers, product owners, system architects and other stakeholders to define and implement software requirements. 
• Work closely with developers, testers, and stakeholders in a Scrum team, actively participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. 
• Analyze application and database performance, implement optimizations to improve speed, scalability, and user experience. 
• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot a complex Windows application, identify and resolve bugs or performance bottlenecks in the application. 
• Assist in the migration of the application to AWS, write and maintain Terraform scripts to automate infrastructure provisioning. 
• Contribute to the maintenance of development, testing and delivery tools and frameworks. 
• Document changes, processes, and best practices. 
• Set an example in building a “customer first” attitude. 

How you can add value to the team:

• BSc/MSc degree of Computer Science or related technical degree or equivalent experience. 
• Basic to intermediate experience with Windows application development. 
• Strong development skills in C++, C#, good understanding of API design and usage. 
• Experience working with databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) and proficiency in writing efficient database queries. 
• Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell or Python) for automation. 
• Exposure to AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3) is a plus. 
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools is a strong advantage. 
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies. 
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines is a bonus. 
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail. 
• Communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
• Willingness to learn new technologies and what is required for a job. 
• Highly organized, thorough, and motivated professional.
