As the DevOps Manager, you will manage a team that consists of monitoring lead, architect, and DevOps engineers.  You will lead them on projects, operations, and DevOps standards for the company. Excellent communication in this role is key as you are expected to align expectations and deliverables with the product and application managers/owners. You will guide the team on service availability, security, scalability, observability, and automation. You will oversee the company wide DevOps standards, centralized tooling, and monitoring platforms.  Throughout this whole process, it is important to keep the “customer first” mindset to satisfy the needs of all our customers. You will be expected to teach others on DevOps best practices and be able take lead and make decisions when required. In this role you will report into the Director of Cloud Operations and Engineering and collaborate with the Service Operations Center, Network and Security team and various engineering and DevOps teams in other departments. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Be the DevOps contact for various teams/departments in the company, maintaining a continuous feedback loop to deliver optimum solutions and operations. 

  • Advise on and help provide cloud architecture designs and governance. 

  • Develop and advocate Cloud and cloud security best practices, standards and processes 

  • Provide the vision and governance of the monitoring tooling for Irdeto (Grafana Cloud, Prometheus, Pingdom, etc) 

  • Manage and review the operational incidents and escalations for the team. 

  • Organize, plan, and manage the team’s vacations, jira projects, and the scheduled 24x7 on-call rotation 

  • Coach and mentor your team members on technical items and give recommendations on improvements. 

  • Will agree, in conjunction with the department director: the objectives for the team, resource and training requirements, and project scheduling 

  • Reduce and track cloud costs where applicable 

  • Oversee the development of in-house tools that support the DevOps processes 

  • Direct the teams to Produce quality and timely documentation 

  • Continuously update your own and team’s knowledge on cloud and DevOps products/services 

  • Collaborate with and align standards with the business unit DevOps managers and Product teams 

 

Experience needed 

  • 5+ years’ experience working in AWS cloud environments. 

  • 5+ years with DevOps practices and tooling (containers, pipelines, automation, infrastructure as code) 

  • 2+ years managing or leading a team 

  • 2+ years of Kubernetes is required.  

  • 3+ Experience with Observability, application performance monitoring, log aggregation and analysis (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki).

  • A strong willingness to learn more and improve. 

  • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills 

Education 

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or 5 years work experience in cloud computing.
