The Role: Senior Software Engineer

 We are currently seeking skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer for our Decoder UI Dev team to play a key role in the Software development, planning, design and delivering on project requirements for MultiChoice project. As an Senior Engineer in the Decoder UI Dev team, you'll play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge set-top box software solutions and ensuring seamless customer experiences.

Your mission at Irdeto:

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Decoder UI Dev team, you will be responsible for Software development, bug fixing, technical recommendations (incl. impact assessment & test focus) & lifecycle management Collaborating with internal customers, including Senior Manager Decoder Development and Technology Teams, to align development strategies and dependencies for releases.

Software development, planning, design and investigation.

Reviewing and assessing the UI team's deliverables to maintain high-quality standards and compliance with company processes.

Ensuring adherence to development processes, policies, and security & software compliance requirements.

Develop, enhance & enforce development processes & policies with team members and 3rd party software component vendors.

Qualifications and Experience:   

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic and/or Computer Engineering or a similar field.

• Typically, 6+ years of experience in a Consumer Electronic and Embedded Software Stack Development (preferably STB), working through the Design, Development, Testing, Release cycle.

• Software delivery in Core Java systems and/or Web applications on Embedded devices.

• Understanding of Android TV, HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript.

• Knowledge of Object Orientated principles and design patterns

• Familiarity with SDLC methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, and DevOps.

 Technical Experience Required:

• Core Java programming languages (mandatory skills).

• Web technologies (e.g. WS, RESTful, etc.) and scripting languages (e.g. HTML, Javascript, CSS etc.)

• Embedded hardware systems, real-time & Linux operating systems.

• Database Design and Management tools (SQLite, etc.).

• Knowledge of STB software components like on-chip/off-chip drivers, Middleware(e.g. OpenTV, MHP and/or Irdeto) technologies, UI framework.

• DVB (e.g. DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T, DVB-H, DVB-IP), ISDB, MPEG, H.264, H.265, UHD, HDR, File compression techniques and interactive TV knowledge.
